Psychedelic Assisted Psychotherapy

Defined

Psychedelic assisted psychotherapy is a generalized term that represents the concept of using various compounds or “psychedelic” medicines and expanded states of consciousness to facilitate a therapeutic and healing process for individuals.

Stages

Foundational components of this approach involve individuals approaching medicine work via stages that include preparation, setting an intention, guidance from facilitators/guides during the dosing experience, and the use integration following the journey in order to consider how to optimally sustain the insights learned from expanded states of consciousness.

Roots in indigenous communities & grounded in clinical research

At Integrata, we honor and acknowledge that the origins of psychedelic assisted psychotherapy have been directly informed and heavily influenced by the time-honored traditions of indigenous communities and their deep and transformative work with healing medicines.

We are also deeply grateful for the clinical research that has persevered, often in the face of great adversity, to lay a critical foundation for understanding and learning more about the safety and efficacy of working with different compounds to target different life-threatening conditions.

We particularly highlight the clinical research with MDMA-Assisted Therapy as this work has provided a vital platform for shaping our existing KAP programming at Integrata. Our direct experience conducting clinical research on the Phase 3 MAPS trial for MDMA-AT has deeply shaped the ethos of our work and the fidelity to their model. We deeply hold the “inner directed” model that relies on each individual’s innate capacity and wisdom to know what is needed for healing as a central to our approach.

Our team has also had learned greatly from their direct involvement and participation in other training programs in the field specific to psychedelic assisted psychotherapy treatment including the following programs: Polaris Insight Center, Ketamine Training Center, Fluence, California Institute of Integral Studies, Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research, Internal Family Systems Institute, and the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.
